The Dwindling Supplies
As the fight continued and progressed, it was evident that both the naval fleets were in the want of gunpowder. This caused the attacks to become less vigorous than before and also made the bombardings slow and less powerful. The English, however, succeeded in putting up a strong fight and continued with dogged-determination and perseverance. The English damaged the Spanish vessels and this continued, to mitigate the strength of The Spanish Armada

The Bad Weather
The wind from the west continued but by now, it was less turbulent than before and the breeze became lighter. On the next day, on July 23rd a strong breeze started flowing from the east and the Spanish Armada was in the midst of the windward. This helped the Spaniards to chase the English, who from the opposite side faced them boldly. After some time the English were in the windward. The weather conditions were changing but on a whole, the weather was bad and stormy. By this time, entire England came to know that the Spanish Armada had reached the channel. The best of the officers were now deployed to defend and protect England from the attack. Lord Howard played a significant role during this time and put up a brave fight. After the fight, on July 24th the weather again became calm.

The Critical Situation
By this time, the situation worsened in want of gunpowder as both the sides now grew in real shortage. The provisions ran low and there was a huge demand for the gunpowder to continue the war. The situation grew even worse for the Spanish Armada as they had sailed all the way from the coast through the Channel and reached the Plymouth Harbour. On July 24th, the English were waiting for the powder. This made them stay idle for quite some time. At this juncture the bombarding became intermittent.

The English Chivalry
Entire England was by the side of the Navy, The crew was half-starved and weak but were very enthusiastic. They attacked with full vigour and ardour. The Spanish Armada was initially very confident about their victory but they had to taste defeat later because of England’s strong determination and perseverance. Though at the beginning of the fight, the England Naval base was not fully ready and equipped, however, later on, because of their sheer will power and stamina, they were able to defeat Spain.

England’s hegemony and Victory

By this time, England because of its superior warfare techniques, good leadership and effective long-range weapons began to prove its worth as a country and marked her hegemony in the world as a super and world-class power. This can be seen and is evident in the subsequent and later areas when England not only amassed great wealth but brought many small kingdoms and countries under its rule. The reason for their victory against The Spanish Armada was their coordinated and well-planned attack.
